Altobello Iannone, character and determination at the head of a competitive company

There are very few men around who are as determined. Men of a certain stock.. Men with a formidable character, men with a strong passion for their work and, because of this, men with a satisfied smile.
Altobello Iannone's story is that of a self-made man, who firmly believed in what he saw as a great dream. He was born back in 1928 in San Giovanni di Tornareccio, the scene of this adventure, where he grew up and where he was to begin his brilliant activity of pig-breeding. It was 1950: Altobelli's small-holding consisted of 200 pigs and the small mill of the farm started to work around the clock, in order to feed, in a totally natural way, the seeds of a company, which, today, is able to compete on both national and international markets.
Twenty years on an extra nought enriches Iannone's business: by 1970 there were 2000 pigs bred by a modern, efficient and technically advanced company. Apart from breeding, Altobello Iannone also farms: thirty hectares of land complete this well-established business, land which is worked and sown in a totally natural way., because, as Altobello Iannone smilingly states,"the pigs bred by me must grow healthy, otherwise where is the difference?" The "tradition" has remained basically the same, up until the present day: the 2500 pigs which today make up Altobelli Carni s.a.s. are fed in a completely natural way, as they were 50 years ago, with maize, barley, wheat, soya flour, bran and fresh pasta.
Altobello Iannone, who has now left the business in the able hands of his sons, is a happy man. He has the tranquillity of knowing that he has achieved a dream: "Altobelli Carni" is today without doubt a company which can compete with national and international groups, better-known, perhaps, but not necessarily better in quality.
